Chang Feng
EARLY LIFE:
Chang Feng began carving at a very young age. Growing up in a modest town in central Taiwan, he was deeply influenced by his childhood surroundings and everyday experiences. In 1979, he became an apprentice of master Ju Ming, gaining formal mentorship that shaped his skills and artistic philosophy. Over the past four decades, he has developed a distinctive style rooted in simplicity and observation.
LIVES:
He currently lives and works in Taiwan.
EDUCATION:
Chang’s artistic training was largely practical and mentorship based through his apprenticeship with Ju Ming. This hands on learning allowed him to master techniques and develop a personal artistic vision.
CAREER:
For more than 40 years, Chang Feng has worked as a sculptor, focusing on themes inspired by daily life and nature. His sculptures often reflect the simplicity and contentment of his upbringing, capturing ordinary moments with an emphasis on form and expression.
MATERIALS:
He works primarily with plain materials, using their natural qualities to evoke the primitive beauty and simplicity central to his style.
