Enticing by Zimbabwean sculptor Evison Nyamasoka is a striking, one-of-a-kind abstract Shona sculpture, hand-carved from richly coloured avocado stone.
The sculpture is defined by its wonderfully fluid, organic form. The stone appears to swirl and flow around a central opening. Thus creating a strong sense of movement and drawing the eye naturally through and around the piece. Its sweeping curves give the solid stone an unexpected feeling of lightness and energy, while the open centre introduces space as an important part of the composition.
Viewed from different angles, the relationship between the sculpted stone and the central void continually changes, revealing new curves, contours and perspectives. The natural variations within the avocado stone further enhance the work, giving its smooth surfaces depth and individuality.
At 67cm high, Enticing is a substantial table-top sculpture with enough presence to become a focal point within an interior. It would work beautifully displayed on a console table, substantial side table, low plinth or pedestal, where its sculptural silhouette can be appreciated from several directions.
Entirely hand-carved and unique, Enticing combines the natural beauty and solidity of Zimbabwean stone with the flowing, expressive forms associated with contemporary Shona sculpture.
Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
