Judas by Sean Crampton is a unique, table-top figurative sculpture in welded bronze. The work depicts Judas as a solitary seated man. His compact, inward-looking pose giving the figure a strong sense of psychological weight and contemplation.
Expressionistic in style, Crampton’s treatment of the human form favours emotional intensity over naturalistic detail. The textured, worked surface of the bronze and the expressive modelling of the figure contribute to a feeling of tension and introspection. Thus the piece invites the viewer to consider Judas not simply as a biblical character. Here we see isolated human figure associated with betrayal, guilt and consequence.
At 48 cm high, the sculpture has a substantial presence while remaining ideally scaled for display on a table, plinth, console or pedestal.
