This piece is a striking furniture sculpture crafted from Indonesian hardwood. Measuring 115 cm high, 170 cm wide, and 65 cm deep, the piece transforms a tree root into a functional bench while preserving the raw energy of its natural form.
The seat area has been carefully carved and smoothed, inviting comfort and use. In contrast, the rest of the structure remains untouched, with roots twisting and branching out in all directions. This combination of refined surface and untamed wood creates a dialogue between human craftsmanship and the organic beauty of nature.
Viewed from different angles, the bench reveals new rhythms and shapes, the gnarled roots reaching outward like frozen movement. Each jutting branch adds a sense of vitality, reminding the viewer of the tree’s former life underground. The contrast between the polished seat and the wild, natural extensions turns the bench into both an object of utility and a sculptural presence.

Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 2 people, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
