Transfiguration by Will Carr is an abstract kinetic sculpture crafted from stainless steel. Standing 410 cm high and 290 cm wide, it commands space with a striking presence while remaining fluid and responsive to its environment.
The sculpture shifts and turns with the wind. Its polished steel surfaces catch light, reflecting both the sky and the landscape around it. As the breeze moves, so does the form, creating an ever changing display of motion and shadow. At one moment, the steel arcs align into a clean, balanced rhythm. At the next, they break apart into a looser, almost playful sequence. This constant transformation gives the piece a living quality, as though it breathes with the world around it.
The material choice strengthens its character. Stainless steel brings durability and strength, yet Carr uses it to express delicacy and grace. The sculpture does not feel heavy or rigid. Instead, it floats and turns with ease, revealing new patterns in each rotation.
Because of this, Transfiguration blurs the boundary between sculpture and performance. It is never fixed or static. Viewers must return again and again to witness its changing form. In this way, Carr creates a work that is not only a sculpture but also a dialogue between material, movement, and nature.
