Positive Mind is a unique, hand-carved abstract Shona sculpture by Zimbabwean artist Kufa McDonald. Created from avocado stone, the work has a beautifully rounded, flowing form, with sweeping curves that appear to fold and swirl into one another.
The sculpture’s continuous movement gives the piece a sense of harmony and contemplation, reflecting the idea suggested by its title, Positive Mind. Its smooth, organic contours invite the eye to follow the form around the sculpture, allowing it to be appreciated from multiple viewpoints.
Carved entirely by hand, the sculpture celebrates both the natural character of the stone and the distinctive sculptural traditions associated with Zimbabwean Shona art. Subtle variations in the avocado stone contribute to the individuality of the work, while the polished surfaces emphasise its fluid, tactile quality.
At 65 cm high, Positive Mind is a substantial table-top sculpture with enough presence to form a focal point within an interior while remaining suitable for display on a console, pedestal, sideboard or other raised surface.
As a unique original work rather than an edition, Positive Mind offers collectors an individual hand-carved sculpture in which natural stone, craftsmanship and an expressive contemporary abstract form come together.
Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
We can provide a suitable sculpture plinth for an extra charge, please enquire for details. Experienced professionals handle all our sculptures, ensuring safe delivery and proper installation.
