Evison Nyamasoka’s Recieving Blessings is an elegant Shona Avocado stone sculpture that explores openness, connection and positive energy through a graceful abstract form. Measuring 60 cm high, 33 cm wide and 11 cm deep, this unique sculpture combines a slender profile with sweeping curves, creating a strong sense of upward movement despite its compact proportions.
Rising from a solid base, the composition gradually separates into two elongated strands. These forms travel upwards before crossing over one another at the centre, creating a flowing interaction between solid stone and open space. Consequently, the overlapping sections establish a natural focal point while giving the sculpture a distinctive sense of rhythm and continuity.
Above the central crossing, one side curves inwards towards the loop, while the surrounding form continues to rise. Moreover, this subtle change in direction softens the composition and creates the impression of an embracing or receiving gesture. In this way, the abstract structure complements the meaning suggested by the title, allowing viewers to interpret the sculpture through ideas of acceptance, gratitude and blessing.
Although carved from substantial Avocado stone, the narrow depth gives the sculpture a surprisingly light appearance. Meanwhile, the open areas allow light to pass through, further defining the overlapping strands and changing the composition through shadow and perspective.
Ultimately, Recieving Blessings transforms solid stone into an expressive study of connection and upward movement. The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
