Celtic Dragons by Matthew Billington is a unique carved stone sculpture, measuring 103 cm high by 42 cm wide. The work emerges from a large, rugged rock, which remains mostly untouched and retains its natural dark colouring. The rough surface emphasizes the raw strength of the stone and forms a striking contrast to the carved section.
On one side, Billington carves a twisting, winding depiction of two dragons. Their forms intertwine in a symmetrical pattern, creating a sense of movement and connection. The design abstracts the creatures’ bodies, reducing them to flowing curves and interlocking shapes rather than literal anatomy. This abstraction focuses attention on rhythm and pattern, guiding the eye along the looping forms.
The dragons feature a smoother texture and slightly lighter tone than the surrounding stone. This subtle contrast highlights their presence while keeping the design integrated with the rock. The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
