Xavier Corbero
BORN:
13th June 1935 In Barcelona – Spain. 13.06.1935 – 24.04.2017
PARENTS:
The Corbero family came from Lleida. They held a tradition of metalworking mainly in bronze.
EARLY LIFE:
In 1968 Xavier acquired some land which included a potato farm, in the suburbs of Barcelona. He developed this land into an elaborate complex of spaces that were devoted to hosting artists – in residence.
MEDIUMS USED IN WORK:
Bronze sculpture was Xavier’s dominant medium along with architecture for his own house but he also produced drawings, paintings and poems.
EXHIBITIONS:
His first sculptures where exhibited in 1955 at the 3rd Hispano – American Biennial Exhibition.
