Tawanda Kapusi
Born
Tawanda Kapusi was born in Zimbabwe, 1990. He grew up in a family of six.
Career
Tawanda was tutored for five years by the late Rasheas Mkwaira, under whom he worked with to developed his sculpting skills. In 2007, he began working independently to further develop his talent, and his work has been well received internationally. He specialises in sculpting birds, continuing in the artistic tradition of his former teacher. He has also gone on to mentor another sculptor, Spencer Chigombe.
Materials
He works with a variety of stones, including spring stone, green and white opal, and fruit serpentine.
Style & Subject
His primary subject is birds, and he draws inspiration from bird watching in his spare time, which helps him refine and develop his artistic style.
