Stephen Broadbent

BORN:
He was born in Wroughton, Wiltshire in 1961 and specialises in public art.

EDUCATION:
At Liverpool Blue Coat School he studied sculpture for four years under Arthur Dooley who exposed him to a world of ideas, politics and religion, and got him thinking about how art can change the world.

CAREER:
There is a studio which has been built around Steven, who with his 30 years’ experience has successfully completed many public art projects, private commissions and exhibitions.
Encounter, which is Stevens largest piece of work stands at junction 11 of the M62 Motorway at Birchwood, combining telecommunications aerials within the metalwork.
Two boys were sadly killed as a result of a bomb blast in Warrington, Steven has completed a model of the street “Bridge Street” which contains a ‘River of Life’ to give hope for the future

SUBJECTS OF WORK:
Very much communities and stories they tell.

EXHIBITIONS:
Stephens first exhibition comprised of small bronzes this was in 1982.
.Stephen created a memorial in honour of the late Bishop David Sheppard which is in Liverpool Cathedral.
