Simon Griffiths

Early Life
As a child, Simon spent much of his time in nature, exploring woods and fields near his home and drawing the wildlife he observed, particularly animals and birds.

Career
He is a wildlife sculptor living and working in the North Pennines, County Durham. He has spent many years developing his practice through experimentation with different techniques and materials. He is a member of the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA) and regularly supports conservation efforts by auctioning his work to raise funds for charities.

Materials
He works with a variety of materials, developed through years of experimentation. He primarily works with ceramic and bronze.

Style & Subject
His work focuses on wildlife, particularly birds and animals, and is based on direct observation. Rather than strict realism, he aims to capture the awareness and presence of living creatures, prioritising expression and authenticity over exact detail.
