Ronald Moll
Born
Roland Moll was born in London in the 1940s.
Early Life
He began exploring visual art in the 1950s, initially creating paintings inspired by Jackson Pollock and Pablo Picasso. This early engagement set him on a lifelong artistic path.
Career
Moll’s professional life developed through several distinct phases. He began working at the City of London architectural sculptors E.J. Bradford & Co., contributing to projects such as the restoration of St. Paul’s Cathedral and the creation of a new pulpit.
He later moved into metalworking, where he developed advanced technical skills. This was followed by a return to woodworking, establishing a cottage industry in North Devon designing and producing furniture.
Moll then transitioned into fine art, marking a shift toward a more focused artistic practice. Since 1989, he has maintained studios in North Devon and, more recently, North Somerset.
Education
He undertook four years of formal study at Barnstaple Art School and Cheltenham Art School.
Materials
Moll has worked across a range of materials throughout his career, including metal and wood, reflecting his background in both industrial craftsmanship and fine art.

His work spans both traditional and contemporary approaches. In traditional practice, he focuses on the human figure and the language of representation. In contrast, his contemporary work explores non-representational forms, emphasizing innovation and movement into new visual territory.
