Ronald Holmes

Born in Birmingham in 1945,
EDUCATION:
Holmes attended Moseley School of Art then went on to Birmingham College of Art.
Having mostly produced paintings and drawings, his interest in recent years had turned to sculpture, producing both abstract and representational work in stone, bronze (from clays and waxes) and wood. Working three dimensionally presents many problems but it is abstract work that he finds most stimulating and challenging.
Holmes feels that sincerity is crucial and shines through the simplest of work, and it is that which is hardest to maintain by the most accomplished of artists.
