Ronald Cameron was born in 1930 in South London to Scottish parents. He passed away in 2013.

Early Life
Cameron grew up in South London, where his father ran a chemist shop. At the age of eleven, he attended Wilson’s Grammar School, which was evacuated to Horsham, Sussex during the war. It was there that his artistic talent emerged. Recognizing his ability, the school allowed him to devote much of his time to drawing and painting rather than traditional academic subjects.

A defining moment in his early life was encountering the Rokeby Venus by Diego Velázquez at the National Gallery. The experience left a lasting impression and became a lifelong source of inspiration evident throughout his work.

Education
From 1947 to 1953, Cameron studied at Camberwell College of Arts, where he trained in sculpture under Dr. Vogel and earned the National Design Diploma. During his college years, he met Dorothy, who became his lifelong partner.

Career
Following his studies, Cameron completed two years of national service with the Gordon Highlanders in Malaya. He then worked for a decade as a black-and-white line drawing artist in an advertising agency, continuing to develop his sculpture in his spare time.

By 1963, he had become a full-time professional sculptor. Over the years, he built an international reputation, attracting collectors worldwide and undertaking numerous prestigious commissions.
