Quentin Clemence was born in 1956 in Glastonbury, England.

Education
He studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths’ College in London, with a focus on performance art and installations.

Career
Quentin began his career working in performance-based roles, including time with a small circus as a puppeteer. He later moved through Ireland and southern Europe before settling in Catalonia, Spain, in a valley near Montserrat, where he continues to live and work. Since 1986, he has worked both locally and internationally, often in collaboration with his wife, performance artist Empara Rosselló.

Materials
Since 2002, he has focused primarily on ceramic and bronze sculpture, having previously worked across performance, puppetry, and installation.

Style & Subject
His work is strongly influenced by performance art, storytelling, and theatrical traditions. He creates installations, automata, and sculptural works that reflect his background in circus and puppetry, often blending narrative, movement, and surreal or symbolic elements.

Awards & Exhibitions
He has exhibited widely in major institutions, including La Caixa Forum and the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona, as well as the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen in Düsseldorf. He was awarded the FAD prize for his contribution to the opera Lucrecia Borja in 2002. His works have also appeared in major auctions, including Sotheby’s, and are held in private collections internationally.
