CAREER:
Following his HND in Graphic Design, Thompson started his career as a commercial artist, working for some very influential clients such as ‘Natwest, Midlands, Prudential, Hewlett Packard and the RSPCA’.
Feeling that his creative freedom was limited, he discovered that sculpture was his true passion, and after achieving a BA Hons in Sculpture he specialized in portraits and abstracts. He enjoys the challenge of creating portraits, of capturing an individual’s character and his abstract work compliments his figurative work, giving him another perspective of manipulating form. Working at Aardman Animations has helped sharpen his eye for detail, and time spent with Pangolin foundry has ensured that he is proficient at casting his own work.
SUBJECTS OF WORK:
His subject matter is varied, ranging from capturing human emotion to depicting the natural matrix created by movement and time. Abstract, Floral, Kenetic, Contemporary, Modern
