Lovemore Bonjisi

BORN:
Ruwa, Zimbabwe, 1985

EARLY LIFE:
Lovemore Bonjisi is the youngest member of a family of stone sculptors. He was unable to attend school due to not having a birth certificate and instead entered the world of sculpture at a young age. Through this hands-on training, he gradually developed his own sculptural skills.

CAREER:
Bonjisi was trained by his brother, who eventually allowed him to work directly on small pieces of raw stone. By the age of 14, he was producing sculptures that attracted the attention of art dealers working with his brother. This early recognition led him to work on larger and more ambitious stone pieces. He is now considered one of Zimbabwe’s leading stone sculptors, with a strong international presence.
