Lovemore Bonjisi

BORN:

Ruwa, Zimbabwe, 1985

The youngest in a family of stone sculptors. Lovemore was taught sculpting by his brother Lameck, He could not attend school as he didn’t have a birth certificate, he had no choice so at the age of 12 he had to start helping his brother by sanding and polishing Lamack’s pieces. After a while Lameck started to let Lovemore practice on small pieces of raw stone, by the age of 14 he was making some sculptures that appealed to many of the art dealers Lemeck dealt with. He was encouraged to work on larger pieces of stone. Lovemore is considered one of Zimbabwe’s greatest stone sculptors. Lovemore’s work has been exhibited in many galleries around the world. His sculptures are in high demand and are held in collections both public and private.

Lovemore Bonjisi sculptures are available from the sculpture park.
