Keith McCarter

BORN:

Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, 1936.

From 1956 – 1960 he studied at the College of Art in Edinburgh, under Helen Turner and Eric Schilsky. He was awarded a scholarship which allowed him to travel Europe and Scandinavia. He lived in America for a time working as a designer for Steuben Glass, whilst he was there he also studied materials that are used in construction to see how they could be used in the art world. He taught for 4 years at Horney College of Art. After teaching he began working as a full time sculptor. In 1963 – 1973 he lectured on the aesthetics of concrete at the cement and concrete Association.
