Julian Rena
BORN:
UK, 1965. He trained as a chef in London until he was involved in a really severe car crash which put pay to his career as a chef. Eventually he began sculpting using a range of media but for the last ten years he’s worked mainly in stone. His sculpting has taken him to India and Italy, carving and importing stone from both countries. Julian’s work can be found in many private and public collections, he also has undertaken many large commissions. His studio is in Wimbledon, London, UK. His influences are icons, advertising logos, French cartoons, 1960’s plastic furniture and fetishes. He likes to work with coloured onyx and alabaster. He describes his work as abstract but reprehensive.
