EARLY LIFE:
Jean-Luc Gambier studied at the Moulins glass school, where he graduated top of his class in 1967. He began his career working at the Biot glassworks, later relocating to Gourdon and then Caussols, where he continued to refine his craft.
LIVES:
He is based in France.
CAREER:
After years of experience in established glassworks, Gambier began creating his own unique pieces in the 1990s. His son, who shares his passion for glassmaking, joined him in the workshop, forming a collaborative practice. Together, they produce distinctive sculptural works that have gained international recognition and are exhibited in galleries worldwide.
MATERIALS:
Glass, using traditional glassblowing techniques and sculptural processes.
STYLE AND SUBJECTS:
His work is known for its airy, expressive qualities and originality. Gambier creates sculptural glass forms that are both delicate and monumental, with some pieces reaching up to one meter in height and weighing as much as 20 kilos.
