He developed an early interest in ceramics and glass, which became the foundation of his creative practice.

He is based in the United Kingdom, working from his studio in Nottingham.
EDUCATION:
Guy studied glass and ceramics at University of Sunderland.
CAREER:
Guy Routledge has worked in ceramics for over 20 years. His first studio was in Auckland from 1989 to 1991. He then worked as a site artist and designer on the New Zealand pavilion at Expo ’92 in Seville.
After returning to England in 1993, Routledge developed his studio ceramics practice, supplying galleries throughout the UK and internationally. His work includes brightly coloured vessels, bottles, and a wide range of sculptural figurative ceramics, often based around the head and face. These pieces are typically monochrome.
All of his work is hand-built, giving each piece a unique character and presence. He now runs large workshops and a shop, Carrington Pottery, where he produces his work and teaches up to 50 students weekly in group classes.
