Guy Gibson

BORN:
Guy Gibson was born in 1918 in the United Kingdom.

EARLY LIFE:
He developed an early interest in aviation and joined the Royal Air Force at a young age, quickly showing exceptional skill and leadership as a pilot.

LIVES:
He served primarily in the United Kingdom and across various wartime locations during the Second World War.

EDUCATION:
Educated in England, Gibson went on to receive formal military training through the Royal Air Force.

CAREER:
Gibson was a highly decorated RAF officer and became the first Commanding Officer of No. 617 Squadron. He led the famous Operation Chastise in 1943. By the age of 24, he had completed over 170 operations. For his leadership and bravery, he was awarded the Victoria Cross. He was killed in action in 1944 during a later mission.

AWARDS AND EXHIBITIONS:
Gibson received numerous military honours, including the Victoria Cross, in recognition of his outstanding service and courage during the Second World War.
