Gregory Mutasa

BORN:
Gregory Mutasa was born in 1959 in Zimbabwe. He is considered one of the most well known artists from the second generation of Zimbabwean sculptors.

Gregory grew up in Zimbabwe during a period when stone sculpture was becoming an important artistic movement. He was influenced by the pioneering first generation of Zimbabwean sculptors and developed an early interest in working with stone.

He has lived and worked in Zimbabwe, where he continues to be part of the country’s vibrant sculptural tradition.

CAREER:
Gregory is an established sculptor associated with the Shona sculpture movement. His work has gained recognition both locally and internationally, contributing to the global appreciation of Zimbabwean stone sculpture.
