Graham grew up in Ebbw Vale and has lived in the same house his parents moved into when he was three years old. After leaving school, he began working at a steelworks, where he started making objects.

CAREER:
Following redundancy from the steelworks, Graham took the opportunity to study art formally. After graduating, he went on to work in education, becoming a lecturer and technician at the University of Glamorgan in 1981.
