Edmore Sango
BORN
Edmore Sango was born in 1977 in Guruve, Zimbabwe.
EARLY LIFE
Born into a family of sculptors, Sango is a third generation artist. From an early age, he was involved in the sculpting process, helping his sister Queen and brother Brighton polish their works. This early exposure nurtured his interest in sculpture and laid the foundation for his future career.

CAREER
Sango began his career as a sculptor in 1995. Building on his family’s artistic heritage, he developed his own artistic voice while remaining connected to traditional Zimbabwean stone sculpture. His work has gained recognition both locally and internationally.

STYLE AND SUBJECT
Sango’s sculptures are primarily abstract and are inspired by the natural environment and life within his community. His work explores themes of coexistence, harmony, and the relationship between people and nature. He describes his art as reflecting “the nature that surrounds me and the way we live together in my community.”
AWARDS AND EXHIBITIONS
Sango has exhibited internationally, including with the World Art Foundation and Kunst In Depolder in the Netherlands in 2001, and at the Enlaoe Gallery in Germany in 2002. He also exhibited in Germany in 2014 at the Into Africa Gallery. He has received three Merit Awards from the World Art Foundation in recognition of his work.
