Edmore Chijumani
BORN:
Edmore Chijumani was born in 1972 in Zimbabwe.
EARLY LIFE:
Born into an artistic family, he was taught basket weaving as a child before progressing to stone carving. Coming from a family of sculptors, he started learning to sculpt in 1993, under the watchful eye of his brother, Morgan.
EDUCATION:
Self-taught, he developed his craft independently and refined his skills through practice and dedication.
MATERIALS:
Zimbabwean stones including: Butter Jade, Lapidolite, Verdite, Fruit Serpentine, Red Jasper, Agate and Springstone.
STYLE & SUBJECTS:
Focusing on wildlife sculptures, he is inspired by diverse fish species from tiger sharks to sardines. His work highlights the large range of locally extracted stones
AWARDS & EXHIBITIONS:
Edmore has exhibited in Canada and USA and Zimbabwe.
