Dorothy Brook
BORN:
Dorothy Brook was born in England.
EARLY LIFE:
From a young age, Dorothy demonstrated a strong interest in visual arts, particularly in form, pattern, and the dynamics of the human body. This early fascination would later inform her sculptural practice, blending movement, line, and space into expressive works.

CAREER:
Dorothy began her professional life as a graphic designer in advertising before working freelance. In 1988, she became a full-time artist, focusing on sculpture that integrates her passion for movement, dance, theatre, and music. Her work emphasizes abstracted human forms, exploring the balance between motion and stillness, and the interplay of lines, negative space, and form.
MATERIALS:
Dorothy works primarily in bronze, marble resin, and resin, using these materials to convey fluidity, texture, and elegance in her sculptures.
STYLE AND SUBJECTS:
Her work celebrates the human form, often inspired by dance and performance. Dorothy abstracts figures to highlight pattern, curves, and movement, capturing fleeting moments of action such as a twist, turn, or dynamic pose. The result is a harmonious blend of aesthetic beauty, energy, and balance, with careful attention to both positive and negative space.

Dorothy has exhibited widely since the early 1990s, including:
