David Dewis
CAREER:
On leaving school, Dewis had an interview with an art school, but was told by his father to get a proper job. Nearly forty years later, he graduated from Coventry University with a degree in Arts and Crafts, after a career as a car body shop operator.
Metal sculpture is his intuitive response to generations of family working the material. This influence is what drives him to be not only the artist designing the work, but also the maker – taking the piece from concept to completion.
