Daniel Cordell

EDUCATION:
Daniel studied Art at A level, then went on to accept a place at the University of Hertfordshire where he studied BTEC art and design foundation. It was while Daniel was here he became interested in large scale wood carving and decided to train for the necessary chainsaw certificates. (1998) From there he studied at Loughborough University School of Art and Design, and gained himself a first class BA honours degree in fine art sculpture. Daniel was fortunate enough to spent three months studying sculpture at Virginia Commonwealth University, USA,

AWARDS:
Daniel won his first carving competition in New Zealand in 2009. He also came 1st in a competition where he was up against 24 of the top international carvers in 2010

MEDIUMS USED IN WORK:
The wood Daniel uses is always from trees that are damaged, dangerous or dead and only uses natural oil based finishes on his work. Out of the many different tools Daniel uses his first choice is the chainsaw.

SUBJECTS OF WORK:
Anything from little to large, fictional or abstract, fun or fictional, figurative or fun, for both indoors or outdoors

EXHIBITIONS:
Daniel has work in many different of environments they range from Schools, Zoo’s, Playgrounds, Sculpture trails, Nature reserves and London parks. He has work that is displayed in both public and private collections though out the world.
