CAREER:
Bob trained as a silversmith at the Birmingham College of Art, where he developed a strong foundation in precision, form, and material handling. Shortly after completing his studies, he transitioned into sculpture, applying his technical expertise to three dimensional work. Over time, he established a sculptural practice centred on working directly from life, allowing for immediacy and authenticity in his pieces.
MATERIALS:
Bob initially creates his sculptures using materials such as terracotta, cement fondue, cardboard, paper, and wax. These original works are then cast in bronze, resulting in durable and finely detailed finished pieces.
STYLE AND SUBJECTS:
His work focuses on animals and small groups of figures, often observed from life. Bob’s sculptures are characterised by their naturalistic qualities and sensitivity to form, capturing both movement and the relationships between subjects.
