Crispin discovered his passion and natural talent for sculpture while studying Art at A-Level, where he began to explore three-dimensional form and develop his creative skills.
LIVES:
He is based in Hampshire, England.
CAREER:
After leaving full-time education in 1987, Crispin initially worked for an insurance company while continuing to pursue sculpture in his spare time. In 1997, he made a decisive career change, taking a part-time role at a small 3-D design company. There, he gained hands on experience in key sculptural techniques, including construction, moulding, casting, and presentation. During this period, he produced a wide range of works, from a life size hippopotamus to a Bacchus figurine, refining both his technical ability and artistic voice.
MATERIALS:
Crispin works with a variety of sculptural materials, applying traditional techniques such as moulding and casting to create detailed and expressive forms.
STYLE AND SUBJECTS:
His work is primarily figurative, with a strong emphasis on human and animal portraiture. Crispin’s sculptures aim to capture character, presence, and lifelike qualities, reflecting a keen observational skill and sensitivity to form.
