Carol Peace was born on 29th April 1970.

EARLY LIFE:
Carol grew up with a strong interest in observing people and their interactions, which would later influence her artistic practice. Her early fascination with human behavior and emotion naturally led her toward figurative sculpture as a medium to explore these themes.

EDUCATION:
In 1992, she graduated with a degree in Fine Art Sculpture from Winchester School of Art, where she developed technical skills in clay modeling and honed her understanding of the human form.

CAREER:
Carol is the founder of the Bristol Drawing School, emphasising the importance of drawing as a foundation for sculpture. She is a figurative sculptor whose work is guided by her own observations and emotions. Carol works primarily in clay, using rough textures to suggest movement and detailed modeling to convey stillness and intimacy. Her sculptures explore human relationships, gestures, and emotions, creating expressive, relatable figures.

MATERIALS:
She works predominantly in clay, valuing its tactile qualities and the ability to convey mood and rhythm through texture and form.

STYLE AND SUBJECTS:
Carol’s work focuses on the human figure, capturing subtle interactions and emotional states. Her approach combines careful observation with expressive handling of material, resulting in both intimate and dynamic sculptures.

AWARDS AND EXHIBITIONS:
Her work is held in collections throughout the UK, Europe, the Far East, and the USA. Major exhibitions include Glyndebourne, Dorchester House Hotel, and numerous solo shows across Europe. She has also participated in prominent group and mixed exhibitions such as the Chelsea Flower Show, Art in Action, Barbican London, and Art Frankfurt, showcasing her sustained international presence.
