BORN:
Bruno Locatelli was born in 1908 in Milan.

EARLY LIFE:
Locatelli grew up in Milan, a city with a rich artistic and cultural heritage. Being surrounded by historic architecture, sculpture, and design likely influenced his early interest in the arts and craftsmanship.

EDUCATION:
He attended the Umanitaria School of Milan, where he trained as a goldsmith and engraver, developing precise technical skills. He later expanded his artistic education by studying painting and sculpture at the Brera Academy, as well as at the School of Design at Castello Sforzesco. This combination of training gave him a strong foundation in both fine art and applied arts.

CAREER:
Locatelli worked as both a medallist and sculptor at the Art Institute of Parma. His work includes sculptures and medals, reflecting his detailed craftsmanship and artistic versatility. Many of his sculptures are installed in cities across Italy, while others are held in private collections, demonstrating the recognition of his work during his lifetime.

MATERIALS:
He worked with a variety of materials, particularly metals, due to his background in goldsmithing and engraving, as well as traditional sculptural materials.

STYLE AND SUBJECTS:
Locatelli’s work combines fine detail with classical influences, often reflecting traditional Italian artistic styles. His experience as a medallist is evident in his precise, refined approach to form.

AWARDS AND EXHIBITIONS:
In 1966, the Municipality of Milan awarded him a gold medal of merit. In 1969, he became an associate of the Tiber Academy, recognising his contribution to the arts.
