Bernard Meadows

EARLY LIFE:
Developed an early interest in art, leading him to pursue formal training in sculpture during the 1930s.
EDUCATION:
Studied at Norwich School of Art (1934–1936) and later trained at the Royal College of Art. During this time, he worked as an assistant to Henry Moore from 1936 to 1940.
CAREER:
Meadows established himself as a leading modernist sculptor, contributing significantly to post-war British sculpture. His early collaboration with Henry Moore played an important role in shaping his artistic development.
MATERIALS:
Worked primarily in bronze and other traditional sculptural materials, producing robust and expressive forms.
STYLE AND SUBJECTS:
Associated with modernist sculpture, his work often explored abstracted forms inspired by nature, animals, and the human figure, characterised by tension, structure, and movement.
