Sentinel I & II by Terry Ryall is a striking outdoor bronze sculpture, standing at 203cm high and cast in an edition of 3. The work features two tall, abstract figures, minimalist in form yet full of quiet authority. Their posture and presence evoke the essence of sentinels: silent guardians whose role is to observe, protect, and remain steadfast.
Ryall strips the figures of specific detail, allowing their stance and symmetry to carry the narrative. Despite the abstraction, the sense of duty is unmistakable. Each figure appears calm yet alert, grounded yet watchful, embodying a timeless concept of vigilance.
Cast in bronze, the sculpture gains both permanence and gravitas. The material’s dark patina(opens in new tab) adds depth and reflects shifting light, giving the figures a subtle, changing presence throughout the day. Positioned outdoors, they command their environment, not through action, but through presence alone.
As the title suggests, Sentinel I & II explores themes of guardianship, solitude, and quiet strength. Together, the twin forms invite viewers to pause and reflect on what it means to stand watch, to bear witness, and to remain resolute in the face of time.

The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
