Brutalist movement sculpture, In the manner of David Umemto, Concrete, Unique, 103cm high by 75cm wide by 50cm deep, Abstract sculpture
Brutalist movement sculpture by In the manner of David Umemto, presents a bold exploration of form, mass, and architectural presence. Cast in concrete and conceived as a unique work, the sculpture measures 103 cm high, 75 cm wide, and 50 cm deep, giving it a commanding yet carefully balanced physicality. Its proportions allow it to dominate a space without overwhelming it, making it equally suited to gallery display or architectural interiors.
From the first glance, the sculpture asserts a strong Brutalist identity. Solid geometric volumes stack and intersect with deliberate precision, creating a composition that feels both monumental and restrained. Rather than rely on ornament, the artist allows form and material to speak directly. As a result, the work communicates strength, permanence, and clarity.
The concrete surface plays a central role in the sculpture’s impact. The artist preserves the material’s raw texture, revealing subtle imperfections, tonal shifts, and traces of the casting process. These details introduce depth and visual rhythm across the surface. At the same time, clean edges and sharp transitions guide the eye across the structure, reinforcing its architectural character.
Despite its weight and density, the sculpture achieves a sense of balance and order. Negative spaces break up the mass, allowing light and shadow to animate the form throughout the day. Consequently, the work feels dynamic rather than static.
As an abstract Brutalist sculpture, this piece bridges contemporary sculpture and modernist architecture. It appeals to collectors drawn to minimalist aesthetics, material honesty, and sculptural works that project authority. Ultimately, the sculpture stands as a quiet yet powerful statement, timeless, grounded, and uncompromising in its presence.
