This piece is a monumental teak wood sculpture, designed as both furniture and artwork. Standing 220cm high, 115cm wide, and 100cm deep, the piece transforms a single tree root into a commanding throne-like chair.
The seat has been carved and smoothed, allowing it to serve as a functional resting place. In contrast, the rest of the root remains untouched, left in its natural form with twisting, branching structures that stretch outward in unpredictable directions. This balance between refinement and rawness emphasizes the natural beauty of teak while celebrating the unique patterns created by the tree’s growth.
The high back rises with organic power, forming a dramatic frame that enhances the throne-like presence of the piece. The arms and base retain their irregular, rugged quality, giving the chair a sculptural strength that feels both wild and timeless. Each surface reveals rich textures, from polished grains to rough, jagged edges, that invite the viewer to explore its shifting forms.
As a functional sculpture, Root Throne 3 exists between design and nature. It embodies both the artistry of shaping wood and the raw energy of the tree itself. Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 2 people, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
