Gentle Breeze by Clifford Makore is an elegant Shona Avocado stone sculpture that explores movement, rhythm and natural flow through a sweeping abstract form. Measuring 132 cm high, 70 cm wide and 40 cm deep, this unique sculpture rises with a strong vertical presence while maintaining a relatively shallow profile, creating an impressive balance between monumentality and lightness.
Beginning from a solid, grounded base, the composition gradually opens as separate ribbon-like strips emerge and travel upwards. Makore guides these forms through a sequence of smooth curves and bends, allowing them to weave around one another in a continuous flowing motion. Consequently, the sculpture appears to shift and rise, capturing the gentle movement suggested by its evocative title.
Moreover, the spaces between the curling sections become an integral part of the composition. These openings allow light to travel through the sculpture, while the overlapping forms create changing areas of shadow and depth. As a result, the solid Avocado stone develops an unexpected sense of airiness and movement.
Although the composition reaches confidently upwards, it remains comparatively flat in dimension. The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 2 people, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
