Regenerative Tourism & Sustainability at The Sculpture Park

At The Sculpture Park, our approach combines art, nature and responsible management to create a positive impact for visitors, the environment and the local community.

🌿 Enhancing Biodiversity & the Natural Landscape

The Sculpture Park has been carefully developed over time into a diverse landscape of woodland, lakes and planted areas. We actively manage and improve the land to support wildlife habitats and biodiversity.

Sculptures are thoughtfully placed within the natural environment to work in harmony with the landscape, encouraging visitors to engage with and appreciate nature while minimising disruption to ecosystems.

A wide variety of bird species live within and regularly visit the grounds, making the park a valued habitat as well as a visitor destination. This attracts both amateur and professional bird watchers and wildlife photographers from near and far, further deepening engagement with the natural environment.

♻️ Supporting a Circular Creative Economy

  • As a working sculpture gallery, we promote a sustainable model of art consumption:
  • Showcasing durable, long-lasting artworks
  • Supporting artists through ongoing exhibition and sales
  • Encouraging investment in timeless pieces rather than short term products

🌍 Supporting Artists & International Communities

We work closely with artists from Zimbabwe, building long-term relationships that go beyond exhibition.

Our team has travelled to Zimbabwe to visit quarries, source stone responsibly, and work directly with artists gaining a deeper understanding of their craft and environment. We regularly host exhibitions of Shona sculpture and ensure that a percentage of sales is reinvested back into artist communities.

These contributions have supported practical, meaningful improvements such as:

  • Building sheltered working spaces for artists
  • Providing access to water at quarry sites
  • Supporting ongoing development projects within the community

We also host a resident Zimbabwean artist each year for an extended stay, offering opportunities for cultural exchange, skill-sharing and direct engagement with visitors.

🚶 Low-Impact Visitor Experience

The Sculpture Park offers a predominantly outdoor, self-guided experience that naturally supports low-impact tourism.

Visitors explore the park on foot along a two-mile trail, encouraging slower, more mindful engagement with both art and nature. This approach reduces environmental impact while enhancing wellbeing and connection to the landscape.

We believe the experience has a strong positive effect on mental wellbeing. Many visitors arrive feeling stressed or anxious and leave feeling calmer, more relaxed and inspired after spending time in the peaceful natural surroundings.

🏡 Supporting the Local Area

As a family-run business, we are proud to contribute to the local economy by attracting visitors from across the UK and internationally.

We actively support neighbouring businesses by encouraging visitors to explore the surrounding area. This includes directing guests to a local pub Bel & The Dragon, opposite the park for refreshments, as well as accommodation, and also local self catering B&B; Tilford Woods Lodges.

By working collaboratively with local partners, we help ensure that tourism benefits the wider community and contributes positively to the local economy.

🌍 Ongoing Commitment

We recognise that regenerative tourism is an ongoing journey. We are committed to continually improving how we manage the landscape, support artists, and reduce our environmental impact.

By combining art, nature and responsible tourism, we aim to create a place that inspires visitors while leaving a lasting positive legacy.
