Plan Your Day
The Sculpture Park is home to one of the largest collection of sculptures in the UK. Having well over 1,000 sculptures on display in the park, with a gorgeous woodland walk to tie them all together, we want to make sure all our guests get the most out of their experience.
Knowing how to plan your day, as well as what to bring, can make your visit all the more memorable. While you can still enjoy your visit on a whim, we recommend you have some kind of idea on what to expect. We want all our visitors to have an enjoyable time within the park, and to leave happy and satisfied at the end.

Before You Visit
Whether you only intend to stay for a hour or the whole day, having a rough idea on what to expect can make your visit feel more worthwhile. The park is an ideal place to meet up and walk around with others, so why not invite a friend or family member to come with you.
To help you plan your day, we have a few point to keep in mind:
- Check the weather forecast – We are an outdoor gallery, surrounded by trees and foliage. A visit in any weather always has it’s advantages, for example the park is very atmospheric in the rain, and the snow adds a whole new dimension, but just make sure you are dressed appropriately so you can fully enjoy the experience without getting soggy.
- No need to book in advance – Just choose a date that works best for you, show up on the day and head to reception to purchase your tickets. Tickets cost £15 Adults, £10 concessions (0ver 65, Students, Children, Disabled, Carers, Blue Light Card Holders), Infants (3 and under) Free.
- Entry is valid for the entire day – Once you are in the park and checked in at reception, you are welcome to leave and come back throughout the day. For this reason we always recommend entering the park as early as you can. This will give you the whole day for your visit, as well as give you a chance to leave for lunch or refreshments at The Bel and Dragon pub, just opposite the park.
- Our walk takes roughly 2 – 3 hours to complete – Exact time varies from person to person, but generally we find most people walk around the whole park within 2 to 3 hours. Again, this is why we recommend entering as early as you can to allow yourself plenty of time to get around the park.
- We are a woodland trail with steps and bridges – The entire route through the park contains multiple steps and bridges. All connected together with a shingles trail that may have the odd tree root accross it. We do offer a step free route for those who are unable to nagivate steps. Half of this is flat, with a wider path. The other half is on an incline through the woodlands.

What To Bring
Other than yourself and cash or card for entry and maybe a sculpture purchase, there’s not much else you need to bring with you!
However we do recommend a few things for you to bring so you can be prepared for your trip:
- Appropriate footwear for walking – Our park is 10 acres of woodland, with the walking distance around the whole park being nearly 2 miles in total. For this reason, we’d recommend wearing something you’re comfortable walking in. Walking shoes/boots are perfect for our woodland trails, however whatever you’re comfortable wearing is always best and trainers usually do the job.
- Weather appropriate clothing – The park itself is in a small valley, with three different lakes within it, and lots of shade, meaning the park can feel cooler than the surrounding area. In summer this means the air is around 3 degrees cooler – a real bonus on a hot day! However for winter this can make it feel even colder than it actually is!
- Wet weather gear – Being in the UK, rain is inevitable, however don’t let the rainy weather put you off visiting! The woodland covering above keeps off the lighter showers, however a coat or umbrella is ideal for anything heavier. While the trails don’t get muddy during rain, they do get puddles of water, so wear appropriate footwears as well.
- Food and Drinks – While you are always welcome to leave the park for food and drinks at any point, you’re just as welcome to bring something with you to have in the park. We provide picnic areas for you to sit and eat, plus a few covered areas and benches around the park.
- Camera or Phone – The park is home to well over 1,000 sculptures, so why not make the most of it! Our scenic woodland trails are ideal for photographers and sculpture enjoyers alike looking for that picture perfect moment to capture. Make the most of your visit with a picture to last, and share on instagram tagging @thesculpturepark!

What To Expect
Once you’ve picked your day and made your way to the park, all you have to do is head down to our reception to check in where one of our friendly members of staff will explain our park map to you and point you in the right direction to get started. After that the day is yours to enjoy as you wish.
While in the park, we have a few extra points to keep in mind:
- You will only receive a map at reception – Our staff only hand out maps at recption, as your map acts as your ticket for the day. Please ensure you keep your map with you as you walk around the park. Once you’ve finished for the day, we ask you to return the map to reception. This is so we know you’re done and out of the park.
- We are a selling gallery – All of the sculptures in our park are for sale, with each piece having a plaque by it with all its information. While we allow people to interact with our pieces, please treat all of our sculptures with care and respect. If any sculpture we have interests you, let our staff know. We can sort out any information you wish to know about it, as well as purchase on the day. If no delivery or installation is required, you can purchase and collect your sculpture on the day! We also offer an in-house delivery and installation service so all the hard work is sorted for you.
- Be mindful of other visitors – We kindly ask you to be considerate of other visitors in the park as you go around. We want everyone’s visit to be as enjoyable as possible. Please refain from running, shouting, littering or obstructing anyones path while you’re going around.
- Be aware of your surroundings – We are a open woodland trail surrounded by trees, plants and water. For your safety and the safety of others, we ask that you stick to the footpaths shown on your map. Please be aware of your surroundings as you navigate the paths, and watch your footing on our steps and bridges, especially during wet and rainy weather.
