Root Throne presents a commanding fusion of nature and craftsmanship, transforming a raw piece of teak wood into a functional and sculptural presence. Standing 150 centimetres high and spreading 115 centimetres wide, the work immediately draws the viewer in with its rugged, organic silhouette. At its core, the sculptor carves a smooth, inviting seat directly into the dense root structure, and thus creates an intriguing contrast between refinement and untouched wilderness.
The seat itself shows deliberate care. The artisan rubs it down to a soft, tactile finish and then varnishes it, allowing the golden brown teak to glow warmly under the light. Moreover, this polished surface encourages interaction, making the piece not only visually compelling but also comfortably usable. In contrast, the surrounding wood remains raw, textured, and naturally contoured. This decision preserves the original knots, twists, and crevices of the root, which in turn highlights the wood’s inherent power and character.

Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 2 people, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
