Dragonflies on Blades, Corten Steel, Mild Steel, Bronze, Edition Open, 250cm high

This sculpture is made up of separate elements which can be purchased as a group or individually. The large blade structures are based on grass blades and have a strong architectural form. They were designed by Joanne Risley and were fabricated in her Cheshire workshop by herself and her husband, Barry Callaghan in 2017. They are made from Cor-ten steel.
The dragonflies are made of bronze and were cast and finished by the two artists in Cheshire. The two largest were created by Joanne Risley and the smallest by Barry Callaghan.
The sculpture was designed for outdoors and sits well in many locations; in a lawn, gravel bed, amongst grasses, verbenas and also in a pond. The pieces have substructures which can be secured under ground level. Cor-ten is a special weathering steel which has a copper element thus allowing the surface to rust without it penetrating the metal. It is a natural patina that seems to work in any external setting, complementing a range of soft and hard landscaping.

A minimalist bronze sculpture of three blades of grass with dragonflies on each one.
