Loredano Rosin
BORN:
Venice, Italy, 1936 – 1992.
He belongs to the last generation of traditional glass masters, trained in the ancient artisan way. He began working with glass in his early teens, not by choice but by where he lived, local mentality and economics, it was only when he was older did he realise how luck he had in fact been. By the age of just 13 he was working more than 10 hours a day, so he had little time or energy for anything else, bit by bit he started playing around with glass and soon learned how to manipulate it. He learned all the traditional techniques of Murano glass but the glass blowing didn’t really do it for him, he was more interested in shaping the solid glass mass. Eventually he opened his own studio. He enjoyed the figurative aspect of art, here he was able to express his feelings, he enjoyed pairing figures to create a feeling of emotion. Loredano has exhibited widely in both private and public exhibitions throughout the globe. Loredano dies in a tragic water scooter accident in Venice.
