Andrew Roache

BORN:
Andrew Roache was born on 18th December 1949.

EARLY LIFE:
Roache began sculpting during his time in the army, where he served for 20 years in the Royal Veterinary Corps, following a decade working in veterinary practice in Devon.

EDUCATION:
His knowledge of animal anatomy and form was developed through his professional background in veterinary practice, which continues to inform his sculptural work.

CAREER:
In 2002, Andrew and his wife purchased Showborough House, where they dedicated their efforts to developing extensive gardens. The site now hosts the annual Showborough House Garden Sculpture Exhibition, bringing together art and landscape in a unique setting.

MATERIALS:
Roache works with durable sculptural materials suited to outdoor display, enabling his pieces to be integrated harmoniously within garden environments.

STYLE AND SUBJECTS:
Drawing on his lifelong connection with animals, his work focuses on sculpting animals and birds. His pieces reflect both anatomical understanding and an appreciation for the character and movement of his subjects.
